Last week, Benjamin Bowden was arrested for his involvement in storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. While in the Capitol, Bowden kicked and beat Mitch McConnell’s door with a brass stanchion. What is not mentioned in the complaint against Bowden is his involvement in Nick Fuentes’ groyper movement.
Bowden posted on Gab and Twitter using the name Yeety (or Yeet) Peeterson, which he proudly announced on a livestream at the December 12, 2020 Million MAGA March in DC.
Bowden’s social media posts as Yeet Peeterson consisted of praise for Fuentes, racism, and assorted bigotry. They also show that Bowden attended several rallies featuring Fuentes in the lead up to J6, including both the November 14 and December 12Million MAGA Marches in DC, and a December 5th America First Stop the Steal rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
But Bowden seemed to have been an even bigger fan of Jake Lloyd Colglazier, a former InfoWars host who has an extensive history of white nationalism and bigotry who also attended the November and December rallies. Despite this previously worked as Texas gubernatorial candidate Don Huffines’ deputy communications director (at the time, the campaign refused to fire him, saying doing so would be “cancel culture”); he is now the president of the Fort Worth Young Republican Club.
At the time, Colglazier streamed on the platform DLive, which allows fans to send “lemons” to streamers they support. Lemons are valued at $0.012 each. Bowden was Colglazier’s second largest all time donor on DLive, sending him nearly $1,600.
Both Bowden and Colglazier have since distanced themselves from the groyper movement; in Colglazier’s case, the split was personal and not ideological. It appears Bowden may feel similar. In April 2022, he posted on Gab in support of Colglazier.
It also appears that Bowden has continued to donate to Colglazier. Currently, Bowden is the only recent contributor to Colglazier listed on DLive, which shows him as the top (and sole) contributor for this month.
Bowman joins several other groypers who are have had to face ramifications for their actions on January 6. Despite his leadership role, Nick Fuentes has not faced criminal charges.
